AMS Winter Recitals – Dec. 1 & 2
Our Winter Recitals are upon us! We are happy to be at the Unitarian Universalist facility once again. It looks and sounds so nice in there! And, bonus – there’s parking!
World Music Ensemble – Free Intro Class Nov. 26
The world music ensemble is a group open to all student musicians, of any instrument, ages 7 and up, and skill-level combination. Bring your own instrument.
Students will expand their minds by learning music from many different global traditions, as well as learning the cultural and historical significances behind the music. Band members will learn by reading and by ear, and all will have the chance to improvise.
Paella Dinner was a BLAST!
We had a truly fantastic evening at our first ever dinner fundraiser w/ celebrity cook Jeff “Rhino” Bannister. We raised almost $2,000 for AMS programs, which will help us keep music education affordable, and keep music educators in business. Big thanks to everyone who came to support, and to everyone that volunteered their time to the event.

Spanish Paella & Wine Dinner Nov. 7
On Wednesday, November 7, 6-9 p.m., District Wine Bar and celebrity grillmaster Jeff “Rhino” Bannister are teaming up for an evening of authentic Spanish food and wine to support Asheville Music School. A ticket price of $70 per person includes complimentary Spanish wines by the glass with a tasting of small-production or estate-grown bottles (and the option to make purchases), small-bite Spanish pintxos, and traditional paella. Live entertainment by flamenco guitarist Juan Benavides and percussionist Ryan Oslance will enhance the evening’s Spanish theme.
Essay Contest – $100 Grand Prize
The study of music means different things to every student. For some people it is a creative outlet that they do for pure enjoyment. For others, it can be a life changing experience. Whether you play for fun, or if music is a career you plan to pursue, or even if you aren’t sure where it will take you, we want to hear how music has changed and affected your life.
Vinyl Crossroads to open for Sarah McLachlan
Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan comes to Asheville on Saturday, September 22 for a benefit concert hosted by the Green Side Up Foundation to support local pediatric cancer patients in the Asheville area. The event will take place at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville at 7 PM.
And, Asheville Music School student ensemble Vinyl Crossroads is opening the show! Vinyl Crossroads is part of AMS Sound Education outreach program, bringing music to communities in need.
